C h e s t X - R a y
Description - A chest x-ray looks at the structures of the chest. It allows the radiologist to identify problems with the lungs and evaluate the heart region. The results of the test will be sent to the referring healthcare provider.
Procedure - The patient will be asked to remove any type of jewelry, metal or zippers from the chest area so it does not interfere with the image. The patient will be provided with a gown to wear during the exam. The technologist will then position the patient in front of the upright chest board and take two images of the chest (a frontal and a side view). The procedure takes approximately 5 to 10 minutes.
Preparation - None necessary
